Benefits
General Construction Company is one of
many districts of the Kiewit Corporation. Our industry is
challenging and we work hard at Kiewit to meet those challenges.
We reward our employees’ hard work with an exceptional benefits
package. Our benefits lead both our industry and most Fortune
500 companies. We offer comprehensive medical and dental
insurance, short and long term income protection, one of the
industry’s best 401(k) retirement plans, a unique employee stock
ownership program and much more.
Healthcare Benefits
Kiewit is committed to keeping our
healthcare benefits at no-to-low cost to our employees. This
means you have less premium deduction and more take-home cash
every week. Our employees pay, on average, less than $40 per
month for family coverage and receive $480 a year in pre-tax
dollars. This additional money can be used to offset any out of
pocket costs or be added to the employee’s 401(k) account.
Kiewit provides its full-time salaried
and non-manual hourly employees with a broad range of
competitive benefits designed with the employee and their family
in mind. The program’s flexibility allows each employee to
select the proper amount of coverage.
Our comprehensive medical and dental plan
includes:
• National network of providers offering
quality care with discounted rates
• Major medical, hospitalization, out-patient and mental health
coverage
• Dental coverage including routine and orthodontia care

Employee Stock Ownership
Kiewit is 100% owned by active employees.
Employee stock ownership is a key factor in our long-term
success. Approximately 75% of our salaried employees who have
been with the company 5 years or longer own stock.
Individuals who are selected to become
stockholders have demonstrated a commitment to meeting Kiewit
expectations. Their goals are closely aligned with the company’s
– they think and act like owners. To become a stockholder, an
employee typically has three to five years Kiewit experience, is
performing in a leadership role and demonstrates the potential
to assume additional responsibilities.
Our stock ownership program is successful
because of the long-term outstanding annual returns. We have
maintained an annual average total return of 27% since 1992. Our
performance has far outpaced the S&P 500, the Dow Jones Heavy
Construction Index, and other publicly traded
construction/engineering companies. The value of our stock, your
investment as an owner, is solely determined by our performance.
Our unique ownership philosophy and
culture allow for:
• Attractive returns that are based solely on our performance
• Consistent and increasing dividend pay-outs
• Outstanding opportunity to build significant wealth

Compensation
Being the best at what we do allows us to
pay our people competitive wages. Our total compensation
structure (wages, bonus and stock ownership) is tied to a
long-term career that rewards hard work, performance and
results.
Our compensation structure is based on
local, regional or national compensation data, depending upon
the position. Compensation for all Kiewit employees is reviewed
at least annually and adjusted on the basis of individual
performance.
