Project Details Scott Worldwide Cogeneration Project
Project started in 1993 This project is a state-of-the-art cogeneration facility burning wood waste from area sawmills and spent sulfite liquor from the pulping process. General Construction was responsible for the civil, concrete, structural steel, electrical, piping, and mechanical aspects of the project. Our work scope also entailed fire protection, insulation, HVAC, and instrumentation activities. Kvaener supplied and erected the new boiler. General Electric supplied and erected the turbine-generator. Specific highlights General Constructions work: Demolition and site preparation; The addition of chip unloading and storage systems; Boiler feedwater systems; Installation of cable trays, switchgear, PLC interfaces, and control wiring in the turbine/generator building; Construction of a new substation to interconnect the new facility with the Public Utility Districts existing electrical system; Installation of chemical handling and sulfur storage; Upgrades to the emission control baghouse; Ash handling facilities construction. When operating at full capacity, the facility can generate 58 megawatts. Approximately 85% of the work was self-performed by General Construction.
