General Construction will build a spillwall in the stilling basin between Bays 8 and 9 at the Dalles Dam Spillway on the Columbia River. This work includes site work and building a temporary concrete precasting facility. Once this is complete General will remove the north fish ladder temporary bridge and approaches then remove a baffle block located 25 feet underwater. A tilted stilling basin slab will be repaired. To prepare the river bottom for the spillwall, we will drill, split and excavate rock under the footprint. General will then precast concrete cells, tremie cast concrete and rock anchors. The work schedule and construction methods are driven by environmental permits on this challenging project. We anticipate finishing the project in March of 2010.
